The Row

Worlds Toughest Row

The Worlds Toughest Row is an annual 3,000 mile unsupported race across the Atlantic Ocean. Each year, around 40 crews set off from La Gomera in the Canary Islands and row west to English Harbour, Antigua. We are competing in the mixed pairs category. Only 28 mixed pairs teams have completed the crossing to date.

The race typically takes 40–60 days. We will row in continuous two-hour shifts, alternating day and night, managing sleep in short blocks as we make steady progress west. As an unsupported crew, we are responsible for our own navigation, weather routing, power generation through onboard solar panels, and water production using a desalinator. There is no support vessel and no resupply once the race begins.

Life on board is simple and demanding. We will face long days of exposure to sun, wind and swell, interrupted by occasional storms and changing sea states. Salt sores, fatigue and minor equipment issues are common realities. Our toilet is a bucket, our shower is seawater, and our world will be a 24-foot boat until we reach Antigua. In return, we’ll experience open horizons, quiet sunrises and night skies few people ever see.

Our Goal

Our Ambition
Win the Mixed Pairs Category and Deliver a Record Chasing Atlantic Crossing

We are preparing to compete at the front of the pairs field with the clear aim of winning our category. Alongside that, we are targeting a pace that places us among the fastest mixed pairs to ever row the Atlantic. Achieving that will require disciplined preparation, smart strategy, efficient boat management and sustained consistency over 3,000 miles. This is a performance-led campaign, and we are approaching it accordingly.
